With Ambition, Building a Promising Future in Amsterdam
With a protein shake in hand and his running shoes still by the door, entrepreneur Krijn (28) radiates the energy of someone who’s already had a productive start to the day. "I’m up at 6 AM every morning, so I’ve been awake for hours."

Barcelona blues; Not long ago, Krijn and his girlfriend were living a dream life under the Barcelona sun. "Morning runs along the Mediterranean coast, working from a sunny terrace... We lived as digital nomads, and let me tell you—it was a good life." His smile holds a hint of nostalgia. "But I wanted to pick the right spot to base my startup. Thus we needed to move back to Amsterdam."
Barcelona will always be special, but here in Amsterdam, in this home, with all the opportunities ahead… this is where we write our next chapter.
The right time
Finding a home in Amsterdam’s red-hot housing market required a smart approach. "We were lucky to work with Paco from Walter Living," Krijn says. "His expertise and network were invaluable. He understood exactly what we were looking for, that we didn’t have time to waste, and how to maximize our chances in this market."
Their future home had barely been listed for 24 hours when Paco had already arranged a private viewing—before the official open house even started. "My girlfriend couldn’t make it, so I went alone. The moment I walked in, I knew: we had to make an offer today."
Quick decisions
"Thanks to Paco’s market analysis and, of course, my own judgment after seeing the place, we felt confident making a strong offer—with a deadline attached." It was nerve-wracking, but soon they got the call: their offer was accepted.
"Looking back, I know we got lucky. But at the same time, I think we created our own luck."
As Krijn leads us through the spacious living room, it’s clear that every piece has been carefully chosen. Vintage design classics blend seamlessly with sleek modern accents. He sinks into a black lounge chair facing the garden.
The garden studio project
For Amsterdam standards, their garden is impressively large—and the perfect setting for his next project. "Right there," he points to an empty spot beside a tall tree. "That’s where I’m building my new workspace."
A place to think, innovate, and contribute to something bigger. "I’ve worked with people who rode the first big wave of the internet in the ‘90s. Now, I get to be part of something even more impactful. AI is about to change everything in ways we can’t even imagine yet. Being at the forefront of that? That’s what excites me."
Home in balance
Krijn and his girlfriend barely had to change a thing—the house was move-in ready. "And the location is perfect," he says, pushing open the French doors to the terrace.
"It’s the best of both worlds—close to the city center for meetings, but also near the park for relaxation, fun, and of course, my morning runs." And then there’s the garden. "Let’s just say, the barbecues here are going to be legendary," he grins.
As the sun climbs higher and his laptop screen lights up with new notifications, it’s clear Krijn has found his rhythm in Amsterdam. "Barcelona will always have a place in my heart," he says, finishing the last sip of his shake. "But here, in this home, with all the opportunities Amsterdam offers... this is where we’re writing our next chapter."
