What to consider when buying in Keijenberg

Pros:

• Close to the Veluwe: Keijenberg sits on the edge of serious forest and cycling terrain. Doorwerth Castle and the surrounding paths are literally on your doorstep, not a 20-minute drive away.
• Quiet residential setting without being isolated: You get space between houses and green surroundings, but you're still within walking distance of Renkum's main shopping street and the train station (Renkum station, NS regional trains to Arnhem and beyond).
• Larger plots than suburban Dutch average: Houses here typically come with actual gardens, not postage-stamp yards. Good if you want privacy or space to work outside.
• Direct Arnhem access: Renkum station connects you to Arnhem Centraal in about 10 minutes, which opens up the broader region.

Cons:

• You need a car for most daily errands: Keijenberg itself has almost no shops. Groceries, restaurants, services are in Renkum town or require driving to Arnhem.
• Commuting by train means timing your day around the timetable: If your work is in Amsterdam or Utrecht, expect 45+ minutes and transfers. Driving during rush hour is slow too.
• Limited diversity in housing stock: Most properties are older detached or semi-detached suburban homes from the 1970s–1990s. If you want something different, your options shrink fast.
